John Gibson Environmental Scholarship | up to £2,000
Are environmental solutions your passion?
The John Gibson Environmental Scholarship is for you.
Scholarship application season opens very soon!
Our scholarships support future horticulturists, so that the UK’s ornamental horticultural industry can continue to grow. Awards range from a few hundred pounds to several thousands.
Through our scholarships, students could find themselves on international nursery work placements, travelling the country on study tours or gaining access to the best production, marketing, research and sustainable techniques across the industry. If that’s not enough, how about money for college tuition, to finance accommodation fees and living expenses, purchase books and equipment, or pay for extra training courses. Winning a Colegrave Seabrook Foundation Scholarship also gives you the added benefit of belonging to the CSF alumni network, which includes many people working for some of the most influential businesses in our industry.
Funding is available to help turn keen students into breeders, nursery managers, horticulture lecturers, head gardeners, plant health inspectors, or whatever it is that fulfils your desire to develop your career in the horticultural industry.
Many of our scholarships are sponsored by major horticultural companies and, in addition to funding, these can provide work placements, the chance to travel and gain unique, behind the scenes tours of some of the best and most innovative horticultural businesses in the country.
Scholarship Season is open from October to 31st January every year. We endeavour to make the application process as straightforward as possible and invite applicants to tell us about their passion for plants and goals for the future. Candidates are also advised to highlight their talent, as evidenced by grades achieved, tutor assessments and work experience.
Scholarships are open to all students studying horticulture, and related subjects, or plant science courses in the UK and Ireland. Applicants must be attending, or enrolled to attend college, university, or a similar educational establishment, on a full or part time basis with a view to seeking permanent full time employment in commercial or production ornamental horticulture on completion of their course.
You may only apply for a scholarship via our online form. Applicants should read the notes regarding specific scholarships ensuring that they say which scholarship they would most like to be considered for and why. Think about the company that is sponsoring the award and how you feel you could benefit from winning that particular scholarship. The better your application the more chance you have of winning an award. You can save and return to your application form as many times as you like before submitting it. The Foundation fully recognise the benefit of AI generated content to a proportion of people, particularly those who may have challenges in written communication. Trustees seek to understand the ‘real you’ from your application for a scholarship and other similar communications and the Foundation will continue to use specialist software to identify AI generated language. We therefore request that any content you use which you, or others, may have generated by AI is clearly identified. Once you have submitted your completed application you will get an automated receipt.
