Supporters

As a charity we are reliant on the support of the industry and individuals for our funds. You can support our work in so many ways, from running a marathon to selling plants; setting up a named fund to leaving a legacy in your will.

Named Funds:

“ … it’s not just about making a contribution, it’s about making a difference.”

We are very grateful to those companies and individuals who have supported the Foundation by way of a significant contribution to establish a Named Fund, including:

The Smart Garden Products Student Fund
Smart Garden Products

Smart Garden Products are investing in the future of the horticultural industry by supporting students studying horticulture and furthering their knowledge and understanding of the industry as a whole. At Smart Garden Products we recognise the key role that skilled, well-trained horticulturists play in the success of garden centres which is fundamental to our own business success. We are delighted that we can play a part in training the next generation of horticulturists through this Named Fund.

The Westland Horticultural Fund
Westland Horticulture

At Westland, we are proud to invest in the future. We recognise our responsibility in nurturing talented and passionate individuals and helping to promote the wealth of fantastic career opportunities in the horticulture and gardening industry. Westland has always been forward-thinking, and it feels only natural to help young people grow their talents which will, in turn, help us to shape the future of our industry.

The Ball Horticultural Fund
Ball Horticultural Company

It is Ball Horticultural Company’s mission to be the world leader in the research, breeding, production and marketing of ornamental crops. Each member of Ball is tasked to create excitement in the world of flowers. Our advancements in seed and plant technology help us rise above the rest. We are proud to be helping students studying horticulture in the UK enter this amazing world of horticulture and the opportunities that brings with it.

The Jeff and Fiona Colegrave Family Fund

The Colegrave family is obviously synonymous with the Foundation originally created in memory of Jeff’s Father. Jeff was the  Chair of Trustees until September 2025 and remains very actively involved in all aspects of the work of the Foundation today, supported by his wife Fiona and three daughters.

Can I set up a Named Fund?

A private individual, family or company can establish a Named Fund as a way of supporting the work of the Foundation. It is a great way to show your support for the horticultural industry and create a fund that will have a lasting impact on the industry for years to come.

A gift of £25,000 or more can establish a Named Fund, a very flexible gift that allows the income to be used where it is needed most at any given time. Donors enter into an agreement that celebrates the gift and acknowledges that this is an unrestricted fund, so that the monies can be used where the trustees best deem appropriate. Sometimes wonderful opportunities present themselves unexpectedly and unrestricted funds enable the Foundation to be agile and respond quickly.

A personal, rather than corporate donation, can be Gift Aided if certain criteria apply allowing the Foundation to gross up the amount by claiming gift aid in the UK.

This is a wonderful opportunity to create a lasting legacy and an acknowledgement that it’s not just about making a contribution, it’s about making a difference.
